Francisco Cruz Munoz Obituary

Francisco Cruz Muñoz was born in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, on October 23, 1961 to Francisco and Guadalupe Cruz and entered eternal rest on January 31, 2021.  He was the fifth of ten children and grew up in Eagle Pass, Texas, where as a youth he was recognized as a talented baseball player and all-around great athlete.  As a young man he moved to Chicago and dedicated 26 years to the Union Pacific Railroad.   

Francisco was beloved by his family and friends and will be remembered for his devotion to Christ the Child and Mary, our Blessed Mother.  He had a contagious smile, a ribbing sense of humor, and a kind heart.  He loved watching old cowboy movies, listening to classic rock, and sitting on his front porch to feed the birds and pigeons.  He enjoyed the outdoors was an avid fisherman.

Francisco is survived by his mother, Guadalupe Muñoz Cruz, and siblings: Bertha Rodriguez, Guillermo Cruz, Amanda Rodriguez, Guadalupe Ramirez, Manuel de Jesus Cruz, Victor Cruz, Aurelio Cruz, Rafael Cruz, and Blanca Perez.  He also leaves behind his partner, Elvira Rivera, stepdaughter, Estefania Rivera, and his 3 dogs.

He was preceded in death by his father, Francisco Cruz, Sr. 

Rosary recital will be on Friday, February 12, 2021 at 5:30 p.m. at the Memorial Funeral Chapels, 1705 Del Rio Blvd, Eagle Pass, Texas 78852.  Interment will be Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 11:45 a.m. at the Valley Cemetery, Quemado, Texas 78852.

 

Francisco Cruz Muñoz nació en Piedras Negras, Coahuila, México, el 23 de octubre de 1961, hijo de Francisco y Guadalupe Cruz, y entró en el descanso eterno el 31 de enero de 2021. Fue el quinto de diez hijos y creció en Eagle Pass, Texas, donde cuando era joven fue reconocido como un talentoso jugador de béisbol y gran atleta. De joven se mudó a Chicago y dedicó 26 años al Union Pacific Railroad.

Francisco fue amado por su familia y amigos y será recordado por su devoción al Niño Jesús y a nuestra Santísima Madre. Tenía una sonrisa contagiosa, un sentido del humor burlón y un corazón alegre. Le encantaba ver viejas películas de vaqueros, escuchar rock clásico y sentarse en su porche delantero para alimentar a los pájaros y las palomas. Disfrutaba del aire libre era un ávido pescador.

A Francisco le sobreviven su madre, Guadalupe Muñoz Cruz, y sus hermanos: Bertha Rodríguez, Guillermo Cruz, Amanda Rodríguez, Guadalupe Ramírez, Manuel de Jesús Cruz, Víctor Cruz, Aurelio Cruz, Rafael Cruz, Blanca Pérez. También deja a su pareja, Elvira Rivera, hijastra, Estefania Rivera, y sus 3 perros. 

Fue precedido en la muerte por su padre, Francisco Cruz, Sr.

El recital del Rosario será el viernes 12 de febrero de 2021 a las 5:30 p.m. en las Capillas Funerarias Memorial, 1705 Del Rio Blvd, Eagle Pass, Texas 78852. El entierro será el sábado 13 de febrero de 2021 a las 11:45 a.m. en el Cementerio del Valle, Quemado, Texas 78852.
