With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Isabel Eugenia Godoy, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and the heart of her family. Born on November 15,1935 in Ecuador to Rafael Godoy and Petra Quiñonez, Isabel embodied resilience, strength, and unwavering love throughout her life. Determined to create a better future for her family, she bravely left her homeland and built a new life in Chicago, Illinois in the 1970’s.
A mother above all else, Isabel was the foundation upon which her family stood. She dedicated her life to her daughters, Viviana Rehnquist and Janet Godoy. She was a woman of immeasurable strength who overcame every challenge life placed in her path. As a talented seamstress, she poured her passion into creating stunning wedding gowns and dresses. Each stitch was a reflection of her creativity, dedication and artistry. She never let hardship define her—instead, she faced adversity with grace and determination, always putting her family first.
Her home was always filled with warmth, love, and the delicious scent of her cooking. She carried herself with quiet strength, always offering comfort and guidance to those whom she loved. Even in the most unfavorable circumstances, her humor and smile alone could light up any room. No obstacle was too great for her to overcome, and no sacrifice was too big, if it meant her family would thrive.
She is survived by her cherished daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren and great grandchildren: Viviana Rehnquist (Scott Rehnquist) and their children, Justin and Juliana (Madeline Rydzewski); Janet Godoy and her son Jorge Godoy (Maryan); Victor Tigreros (Son in law) and his daughters, Maria Nunez (Alvaro Nunez), Lissette Rissman (Brandan Rissman), and Maria Haney (Sean Haney). Her love extended deeply to her great grandchildren: Francisco Robinson, Izaiah Jaquez, Luis Nunez, Emilio Nunez, Brandan Rissman, Benjamin Rissman, Mikaela Haney, Grace Haney, and Elijah Haney. Last, but most definitely not least, she leaves behind her beloved dog Chewy who brought her so much joy and companionship throughout her life.
Although she is no longer with us, her legacy will live on in the hearts of her entire family. Her love, resilience, and unwavering spirit will forever be a part of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
A service to honor her incredible life will be held at Sagrada Familia Funeral Home, 4950 West 79th Street Burbank IL 60459 on Friday February 28,2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday March 1,2025 at 10:00 a.m., Sacred Heart Church, 8245 W 111th St, Palos Hills. Interment will be held at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery 6001 West 111th Street, Alsip, Illinois 60803.
Rest peacefully, Mamá. Your love will guide us always.
