Jose "Joe" G. Moreno, Jr.

Jose “Joe” Guadalupe Moreno Jr., age 52, of Willow Springs Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023. He was born on July 9, 1971 to Jose and Maria Theresa (Ramos) Moreno in Chicago Illinois.

Joe was a 1988 graduate of Whitney Young High School. He participated on the Whitney Young High School swim team that won two public league city championships. Joe continued with athletics on the University of Evansville swim team.
 

After completing his B.S. in 1992 at the University of Evansville he earned his J.D. at
Northern Illinois University Law School and passed the Bar Exam in 1995. Joe practiced law in both the state and federal court. He was last employed with Shimanovsky & Moscardini, LLP.
Joe’s funny and quirky personality made everyone feel welcomed. During his early years when he taught swim classes at the YMCA all the children wanted to be on his team. They knew they would have fun learning a new skill.

During the summers he worked as a life guard for the City of Chicago. Joe was also loved by the
attorney’s in his bankruptcy community where he practiced law for more than 20 years. He had a quick wit and could always make people laugh.

He was also a good listener and handed out solid advice. He liked to have fun, but in the court room he garnered respect from other attorneys and judges. He will be missed greatly by his family, friends and colleagues.

Joe was preceded in death by his father Jose Guadalupe Moreno, maternal grandparents Santiago Ramos and Sabina (Torres) Ramos and paternal grandparents Bruno Salazar and Maria del Pilar (Moreno) Salazar. He is survived by his mother Maria Theresa Ramos Moreno, sisters Maria Theresa and Maria Pilar Moreno, aunts Linda Castaneda and Elaine Gauden, and many cousins.

A Visitation for Joe will be held Saturday, December 23, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Sagrada Familia Funeral Home, 4950 W. 79th St. Burbank, IL 60459. All other services are private at this time.
